Many of us today are still afraid of tweaking PC's. PC's today are more friendlier to newbies, unlike years ago when tweaking and building  PC's are for experts only.

Today, whatever is your age or level of expertise in the field, don't be afraid to explore. Open that beige or black box and take a peek inside. Familiarize yourself of what's inside that box. Dismantle slowly all its components, parts by parts and re-assemble it, this way you are gaining confidence in handling these components. It only take a little understanding and familiarization to start building your dream PC.

There are some advantages of building your own PC , it can save you money, you can choose the components you like. Because you built it you understand it, you are familiar with it. And there is a sense of satisfaction especially when you boot it the first time. Pre built PCs has a full system warranty, home built PCs do not have, but most of the components have themselves warranties. And pre built PCs have many software you don’t need that will clutter your HDD with garbage.

I’m also a big fan of build your own. Years ago, when my first PC a 486 system crashed I had a hard time looking for someone who can repair it and when I found one, his fee is very expensive. As I said during those years only experts can build and repair PCs. So with a little curiosity and passion I researched every PC magazine in the book store and I started building my first PC from scratch, a Duron 900, 128mb RAM, 20Gb HD, DVD ROM, and 16mb AGP video card. In the next page, I tried to explain each PC components in a layman’s word, in a common term that can be easily understand by anyone.
